Since you use Python has anyone considered creating a Red-R Zope or Plone server?
I would think it would be a relatively strait forward project.
Anup,
I read this read https://red-r.org/downloads/linux-installer-readme and install.
Please read all the problems we have linux installation.
https://red-r.org/forum/topic.php?id=12
I think the fix in running Red-R in Linux and Mac OS X is might be OrngCanvas.py in Orange source code.

Hi Noli,
There is really not requirement for compiling on mac or linux. Since python is an interpreted language, all you need is the interpreter installed. Take a look at the Linux installer readme file at: https://red-r.org/downloads/linux-installer-readme
We are focusing on windows development for the time being. But we would welcome your help in maintaining linux or mac packages of Red-R.
Thanks,
Anup
What about Linux?
Please provide instruction how to build from source for Mac OS X and Linux Users. Precompile binary will not work in Linux and Mac os x of us are useful other packages that requires the latest / recently library in PyQT at least 4.6 e.g. QGIS /PyQGIS.
Online / web softwares are not good for developing countries. Web service is actually disadvantage for in providing real support and use. For example in the recent flooding in Pakistan, web mapping services will not be working probably in the field - no internet. They could provide map services which need to map the flooded areas and rescue point for the delivery of goods and services.

Thanks.

Rick,
We have thought of moving to the web, but data exchange between R and python is a major bottleneck if we move to server/client architecture. Plus we rely on heavily on QT for the GUI.
This is not to say moving to the web isn't possible, but for now we are focusing on building and stable platform on windows.

We have thought about putting some components on a web server but have not considered these options.
We heavily rely on qt for the GUI interface and we have thought of logistical issues with maintaining a persistent R connection and other concerns.
It's a great suggestion though and if there are any Zope or Plone programmers that would want to help with the transition/modification I'd love to hear from them.
