Templates and Searchbars

For Red-R1.90 template searching functionality will be reimplemented in the search-bar as will web searching.

Templates are collections of widgets that are pre-connected and load onto a single tab. We think that our changes will make using templates more convenient for users and will encourage their use, submission and expansion in the Red-R framework.

Red-R does not have the ability to parse all directories on the users machine (or at least not to do this efficiently enough to make doing it worth while). Red-R searches for templates in two locations.

Red-R 1.85 Preview

We are getting close to completing work on the next release of Red-R. Red-R 1.85 has many new features, stability improvements and bug fixes.

New Red-R 1.80 Installer

We have just posted a new installer for Red-R 1.80. The main change in this installer is a new updates manager. This feature will allow us better inform you of new features and bug fixes. Furthermore, these changes can be downloaded in a small update installer rather then having to download the full installer.

Minutes from Weekly Developers Meeting

We have many new ideas and are working hard to finalize the list of feature improvements for the next release.

Here are the current changes for 1.85:

New website

Welcome to the new Red-R website.

Our old website was based on a modified version of a wordpress install. A blogging platform just wasn't meeting our needs, so over the last few weeks we have been transitioning to a new drupal install. We are still in the process of moving all the documentation from the old site, and working on bring a few new features online.

All of you existing users will notice that your current passwords will no longer work. There was just no way to maintain the passwords during the transition. Please request a new password.

Backwards compatibility

Loading all schema into new versions of Red-R wont completely fail. Now if schames have a problem loading, a popup menu will ask for some help in connecting the right widgets together and to assign proper signal settings.

New Features

Signal Manager

Red-R is updating the signal manager system. The new system will rely on handler calling from within the sending widget as opposed to using the old system which relied on core. We reviewed the system and agreed that

Plotting

Red-R is moving to embedded plots within Qt as opposed to the R graphics device. The new system prints the image to a file and then reads in using Qt. The graphics devices are zoomable, dockable, and copyable.

New Blog

We have created this new blog section to keep you updated on our development process. We will share minutes from developers meetings and any other thought on the development process. Feel free to leave us comments.
